IBB Advocates More Responsibilities For States, LGs

Former military president, General Ibrahim
Babangida (Rtd) has advocated for a true
federalism where more responsibilities are
given to the states and local governments.
Speaking when the members of the Revenue
Allocation and Fiscal Commission paid him
a working visit in Minna, General Babangida
noted that there is a lot of responsibilities
on the shoulders of the federal government.
The former military president, who noted
that the present revenue allocation formula is lopsided, called on the federal government to cede
more powers to the states and local governments which are closer to the people.
Also speaking during the visit, the Chairman Revenue Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Elias
Mbam explained that a review of the revenue allocation formula of the country is long overdue and
the commission is on the verge of changing it.
