"I joined armed robbery because my flesh was weak" Lagos pastor confesses(Photo)

Pastor Isaiah Willie of Happy People Bible Church in the Ayobo area of Lagos State a father of two is currently in police
custody over his involvement in armed robbery. Narrating to Punch how he and others usually perpetrated bank fraud, he said,
“I used to work with a group of guys who are retired bankers. One of them was even a bank manager. Most times, we
would get a virgin cheque of a bank customer and the owner’s signature.
“If the money is a large sum, the teller would contact the owner of the account on the telephone but we would have already
hacked the telephone number of the customer such that when the bank calls the owner of the account for confirmation, it
would be one of my members that would answer the call and give approval for withdrawal.
“We were able to perpetrate the fraud in Fortune Bank and African Express Bank which are both defunct now. Sometimes
we, through the connivance of bank employees, used to clean out dead people’s accounts and use the money to do
business. Most times, families of dead people don’t get to access their relative’s account until months or years after the
person’s death.”
Willie said he was arrested by the police for his fraudulent activities but regained his freedom when his gang members
secured his release.
“I met a man who is from my hometown, Confidence Saviour. He was wanted by the police so I told him he could live with
me. A few weeks later, he told me to drop some equipment at a nearby bush and later that night, he gave me N10, 000.
“He eventually told me that he and his gang were breaking into ATMs and making a lot of money so I decided to join them.
I never followed them for any operation but I usually left their operation tools -such as sledge hammer, generator and iron
cutters- near the bank where they wanted to attack and I would leave.
“However, on one occasion, they went to rob at the Ayobo branch of Access Bank. Instead of dropping the equipment and
collecting the usual N10, 000, I wanted more money this time around so I hid in a bush nearby. Unfortunately, the robbery
did not go as planned as three policemen were killed at the scene. I was later arrested by SARS men when other gang
members mentioned my name.”
The cleric, who was close to tears, said he had disappointed God and urged the police to give him one last chance.
While quoting Romans Chapter 6 verse 1, he said, “Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? God forbid. I know I
have disappointed my congregation and I urge them not to backslide. I have been a preacher for over 10 years and I have
led many people to God. My flesh was weak. I know that God will forgive me for my crime because I am genuinely sorry.”

Like Share | How Safe Is Your Girl-Child?

Following the tragic rape
cases recently in Nigeria,
parents have said the best
way to ensure a girl-child
safety is to take personal
responsibility of watching
over their children.
Earlier, Daily Times
reported that, an Osogbo
High Court sentenced two
young men to death by
hanging for raping a 14-year-old girl, Bilikisu Adeyemi, to death.
The convicts,  Suraju Olarewaju, 20, and Lekan Olatayo, 20, in 2005 were arraigned on a
two-count charge of conspiracy and murder.
Also, three men have been arrested by the police over the alleged gang raping of a 14-
year old girl, Ujunwa Nwolisa in Nkpor, Idemmili North local government area, Anambra
state on Saturday.
According to reports, Nwolisa had gone to fetch firewood in company of two other under
aged boys at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in the town before she was accosted by
the three men who were security guards of the church and reportedly raped at machete
point.
The gang rape incident was confirmed by the Anambra Police Command saying a a
suspect has already being arrested while efforts are on to arrest other gang members of
the security men who raped the girl.
Speaking to Daily Times, Mrs Taiwo Iwolowa said, "I don't take chances with my children,
I make it a personal responsibility to take care of them. What am I a mother for if I can't
look after my children?  The issue of rape started a long time ago and sonce then, I made
up my mind never to send my kids especially my girl-child to an elderly man."
According to her, the economic factor and urbanisation are contributors to violence
against children.
"These days, parents hardly have time for their kids. They are out in the morning only to
come back at night and they leave the safety of their kids in the hands of strangers."
Also, a father of three children, Mr Chris Bosua said, "really, the best thing to do is take
personal responsibility of your children even on the way to school.
"My children go to near-by schools so that if I or their mother are not around, they can
come on their own and we support them with prayers too."
Countless women and girls in Nigeria are subjected to violence by some members of their
families and within their communities, as in many countries throughout the world.
Women of all ages and from all socio-economic groups, living in rural and urban
communities, are affected.
Though, Nigeria lacks a documented statistics makes on this, studies suggest levels of
violence and rape are shockingly high.
More than a third and in some groups nearly two-thirds of women in Nigeria are
believed to have experienced physical, sexual or psychological violence in the family.
No day goes by without the news of rape of the girl-child by some family members or
unknownn men.
How To Ensure Safety of Girl-Child
Young people thrive in safe surroundings. So one has to take very seriously the safety of
children by providing a safe environment.
Every home and school should teach children about safety and protection measures. As a
parent, you should take an active interest in your children and listen to them. Teach your
children that they can be assertive in order to protect themselves against abduction and
exploitation. And most importantly, make your home a place of trust and support that
fulfills your child’s needs.
Children often lack the skills to protect themselves. It is our responsibility, as parents and
teachers, to safeguard children and to teach them the skills to be safe, smart and strong.
According to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), more should be done to
urgently change the mindset towards women and check such brutal crimes.
"The law is not enough if it is not enforced effectively. The brutal rape cases indicate the
need to strongly improve the response of law enforcement officers,” UNICEF said.
"Girls and women need to be valued, respected and feel safe, not only within the confines
of their homes but also in public spaces,” it said.

President Jonathan Battles Stomach Pain , Departs London For Nigeria

2 Days after President Goodluck Jonathan suddenly fell ill and was forced to skip a meeting Thursday in
London with an investment advisory group, his PR handlers today disclosed the nature of his illness.
A statement by Reuben Abati revealed that the President was indisposed as a result of ‘serious
abdominal pains’, which in medical terms is called ‘acute abdomen’.
Doctors who examined and treated President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for the sudden onset of severe
abdominal pains in London have certified him fully fit to return home and continue his official duties.
After a thorough evaluation of the President’s symptoms, medically referred to as acute abdomen, the
doctors concluded that no surgical intervention was required.
President Jonathan will therefore return to Abuja Sunday evening and will be at work in the Presidential
Villa as usual on Monday.
The President is scheduled to depart from London at about 1400 hours GMT and arrive at the
Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at about 2000 hours.
Earlier today, the president’s media adviser, Dr. Reuben Abati described as fiction the story that he fell
ill in London after a “heavy birthday party thrown to celebrate his 56th birthday” at the Intercontinental
Hotel.
Abati, in a press statement expressed regrets that despite the open admittance of the president’s ill
health in London, some online organs went ahead to make what he called ” scurrilous distortions of the
facts of the President’s indisposition”.
“The truth”, said Abati, ” is that President Jonathan observed his 56th birthday anniversary quietly. For
part of the day, he was airborne, in transit between Abuja and London. On arrival in London, he spent
the rest of the day in the privacy of his hotel room. It has never been his custom to celebrate birthday
anniversaries and no exception was made this year. ”

Most people who felt they should be in, called Kamal, a

guests in. But when Iyanya got to the entrance, the bouncers

People around told them it was Iyanya, but the bouncers still

Kamal. Iyanya tried making a call, but no one picked, he got
angry nodding his head as he left.
A lot of people didn’t understand what was going on and it
soon became a hot topic among guests at the party.
Now, this is an inside gist and it’s so true.”
